Dentistry

Maintaining the health of your pet's teeth and gums is extremely important to maintaining their overall health.  We have excellent dental equipment that allows us to fully evaluate and take care of any dental issues.  Our equipment and procedures are similar to what you might experience with a dental cleaning at your dentist.  Our routine dentals include a full dental examination by a doctor, cleaning, and polishing.  We are also able to perform extractions of diseased teeth.
  • Dental Cleaning:  We both hand scale and use an ultrasonic scaler to clean the surface of your pet's teeth and under the gum line.  This allows us to remove the tartar, plaque, and calculus deposits on the teeth.
  • Dental Polishing:  We have a high speed polisher and use a dental prophy paste to polish the teeth and help prevent tartar from accumulating so quickly in the future.  This part of the process also helps to give your cat or dog fresh breath.
  • Digital Dental X-ray:  We use the highest quality dental x-ray equipment to reveal what cannot be seen with a visual exam below the gum line. This allows us to identify and correct problems in the early stages before disease progresses to the stage where it causes pain and more extensive remediation is required like tooth extraction.
  • Extractions:  We have capabilities to do both simple or surgical extractions based on the needs of the animal and the disease process of the teeth.  Surgical extractions may involve creating a gingival flap, sectioning the tooth with a high speed drill, and using winged elevators to remove individual roots.
